Born on Long Island, I spent the 80’s and 90’s living in New York City working in Entertainment behind the scenes and wanting to act, which I kept to myself. While working for the Producer on “The Equalizer” in 1986 I admired and envied the bravery of the actors I welcomed to our auditions, some of whom had performed on Broadway, in film and TV. I went to acting classes at night for 15 years without ever thinking I had the right to audition for a role.
After completing my third go-around at The Atlantic Theater Acting School, I auditioned and won my first film role at my first audition - the lead in a short film - at 47 years old. Since then I have performed in 16 films at NYU and Columbia graduate film schools. In 2015 I started Extreme Moderation Fitness and Health Coaching: http://extrememoderationfitness.com/index.html#/. Health coaching engages acting skills beautifully in that its success depends on being an expert listener while engaging in a never ending pursuit of being present. My greatest joy in life is with my husband, musician/composer Steve Skinner, the three inspiring children in our blended family, and our dog Tara. I also relish the company of friends, gardening, and laughing- really really hard. |
